Membership in the PCHS Genealogy Club is a benefit of membership
in the PCHS Historical Society. Meetings are usually held on the
2nd Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at Lambert Castle September
through May. Meetings and programs are always open to the public;
however, it is hoped that after attending several free programs, non-members
would support the organization and become and join the Society. Membership
benefits include free admission to the museum and library.

Genealogy Club News – February
2010
The Genealogy Club met on February 13, 2010. More than 35 people
were in attendance. The minutes of the January meeting were read
and approved.
Lorraine Yurchak, President of the Passaic County Historical Society,
spoke about the new merchandise in the gift shop and the need for more
gift shop volunteers on weekends, from 1PM to 4PM. Having volunteers
for the gift shop will free up the other volunteers and minimize damage
and theft.
Copies were available of the February Genealogy Club Bulletin.
February's bulletin featured information about the Sanborn Fire Maps. There
was a page listing and describing web sites worth surfing, as well as a
calendar of upcoming events.
Vice President Judi Bonzkowski announced the programs for future
meetings and Dorothy Decker reported that she is still working on a June
trip. Bob Hazekamp sugested the club have a picnic in July or August.
Members voted and approved Bob's suggestion.
Volunteers are still needed to serve on the Anniversary committee.
Thanks to Bob Hazekamp, the Castle Genie Newsletter has been
reborn! Hopefully, all members received their copy. Work
is in progress for the next issue.
After the refreshment break, Genealogist Daniel Donatacci gave an
interesting and informative presentation on "Paleographically
Speaking: Getting a Grip on Difficult Handwriting."
If you have any questions about meetings or suggestions for programs,
please feel free to contact Annita Zalenski anytime through the PCHS office
(973-247-0085 x 200) or at atzki@optonline.net.
